NEWater was built at first to reduce amounts of water imported from malaysia, increase the amount of water singapore has in case of emergency and to recycle water for daily use.
Now, most of the water recycled were sent to the factories and industries instead of homes.
The NEWater visitor's centre is open from 9am to 4pm and there are several guided tours around it.
